Description
Established 45 × 45 × 60 cm Bioactive Vivarium with Bumblebee Dart Frogs
A fully planted, established bioactive vivarium measuring 45 × 45 × 60 cm, supplied with captive-bred Bumblebee dart frogs (Dendrobates leucomelas). This is a complete living setup that has been planted and running before collection, giving its plants, substrate and microfauna time to establish.
Lighting, a Wi-Fi thermometer/hygrometer and a smart misting system are available as optional additions. Please check the selected options and order details to see exactly which equipment is included with your purchase.
🐸 The Frogs
This vivarium is supplied with captive-bred Dendrobates leucomelas, commonly called Bumblebee or Yellow-Banded Poison Frogs. Please check the product options or order details for the number of frogs included with this individual setup.
- Scientific name: Dendrobates leucomelas
- Family: Dendrobatidae
- Breeding origin: Captive bred
- Activity: Diurnal
These active dart frogs are recognised by their contrasting yellow and black markings. Patterns vary naturally between individuals.
🌿 The Established Vivarium
The 45 × 45 × 60 cm enclosure is supplied fully planted with bioactive substrate and established microfauna. Its planting and natural structure provide cover, visual barriers and areas for the frogs to explore.
- 45 × 45 × 60 cm vivarium
- Established live tropical planting
- Bioactive substrate
- Leaf litter and natural materials
- Established microfauna
- Natural hardscape and sheltered areas
- Captive-bred Dendrobates leucomelas as specified in the product options
This is a living planted enclosure. Plants will continue to grow, and routine pruning, observation and maintenance will be needed after collection.
💡 Optional Lighting & Smart Equipment
You can choose to add equipment to make day-to-day monitoring and misting easier:
- Lighting for the planted enclosure
- Wi-Fi thermometer/hygrometer for temperature and humidity monitoring
- Smart misting system for scheduled misting
These are optional additions. Only the equipment selected and shown in your order details is included. Automated equipment still needs regular checks, and settings may need adjusting as room conditions and planting change.
🦠 Bioactive Care
Established microfauna help process suitable decaying organic material within the substrate. A bioactive enclosure still needs regular care: monitor the frogs, remove uneaten food when appropriate, check the plants and keep an eye on moisture, ventilation and temperature.
The frogs will also need appropriately sized live food and a suitable supplementation programme. Microfauna within the enclosure should not replace deliberate feeding.
🤝 Ongoing Frogfather Support
If you have questions about feeding, supplementation, planting, misting or settling the frogs into their new home, please get in touch. Our priority is that the animals and their enclosure continue to do well after collection.
📍 Collection
Collection from Nottingham only. We will discuss safe transport and hand over the established enclosure and frogs at the arranged collection time.
This product includes live amphibians. By purchasing, you confirm that you are aged 18 or over and that keeping this species is legal in your location.
