Description
Brazilian Dendrobates tinctorius – Sexed Pair
A UK-bred sexed pair of Brazilian-form Dendrobates tinctorius, feeding on appropriately sized live prey.
Pair status
Sexing and current compatibility are based on the animals as observed before sale. Relocation can alter behaviour, so a “pair” is not a guarantee of permanent compatibility or breeding success.
Environment
Frogfather commonly keeps D. tinctorius in moderate low-to-mid 20s °C conditions. We have removed the fixed “~80% humidity” prescription; provide a humid, well-ventilated enclosure with leaf litter, refuges and moisture gradients.
UVB and supplementation
These frogs have been raised with controlled UVB and routine supplementation in Frogfather husbandry. That describes our practice, not a universal proof that one lamp percentage, distance or supplement schedule is correct for every D. tinctorius setup.
Social behaviour
D. tinctorius can display significant same-sex aggression. Even a sexed pair should be monitored and a suitable spare enclosure kept available.
Live-Animal Husbandry Review
Last reviewed: 5 September 2026
Environmental ranges, stocking density and social compatibility should be matched to the species, life stage and individual animals. Frogfather therefore avoids fixed humidity targets, universal pair/trio formulas and “hardy/beginner-proof” wording.
