40mm Stick-On Fine-Mesh Ventilation Disc
A 40 mm fine-mesh vent disc designed to cover a prepared ventilation opening in a suitable plastic culture or grow-out tub.
Containment wording corrected
The old page said the mesh keeps even the tiniest isopod mancae safely inside and called the finished setup effectively escape-proof. Containment cannot be guaranteed from the vent disc alone.
Whether animals or feeder insects can escape depends on mesh aperture, adhesive coverage, the hole beneath it, edge sealing, tub material and the size of the smallest life stage being housed.
Installation
Prepare a smooth clean mounting surface and use an adhesive appropriate to the chosen tub material. Follow the adhesive manufacturer’s cure instructions before introducing animals. Do not use a wet/uncured adhesive inside an occupied amphibian or invertebrate enclosure.
After fitting, inspect the entire perimeter of the disc and physically check the completed tub for gaps.
Ventilation
A 40 mm opening adds air exchange but does not automatically provide “plenty of airflow” or the correct ventilation for every isopod, springtail or froglet setup. Required vent area varies with species, room conditions, substrate, water input and stocking.
Froglet use
For temporary amphibian grow-out use, check the mesh and every other enclosure gap against both the froglets and their smallest feeder insects. The vent does not by itself make a tub suitable for amphibians.
