Tropical White Springtails – 550cc Established Live Culture
A large live tropical white springtail culture supplied for seeding suitable bioactive vivariums, terrariums and dedicated springtail cultures.
What springtails can do
- Graze fungi, microbes and decaying organic material.
- Contribute to decomposition within moist substrate and leaf litter.
- Provide very small live prey for suitable amphibians where animals choose to eat them.
Claims corrected
We have removed the wording that springtails “process organic waste throughout your enclosure”, keep a bioactive system clean or create a self-maintaining clean-up crew. Their ecological effect depends on population density, moisture, food, substrate and the particular enclosure.
Springtails do not remove every type of animal waste and do not replace spot-cleaning, removal of uneaten food or normal enclosure maintenance.
Culture quantity
Live springtail cultures naturally vary in visible density. We do not provide an exact individual count unless the product has been specifically counted or quantified by a validated method.
Use
Add part of the culture to suitable moist substrate/leaf litter and retain a separate backup culture where possible. Allow time for the population to establish before relying on it as a meaningful source of microfauna.
