Springtail Harvest Riser for Filter-Foam Cultures
A reusable 3D-printed riser designed to give springtails an accessible surface above a filter-foam culture so that some of the colony can be lifted and tapped into a feeding or transfer container.
How it is used
- Place the riser on/above a suitable established filter-foam culture.
- Allow springtails time to move onto the accessible surfaces.
- Lift the riser and gently tap collected springtails into the required container.
Yield claims corrected
The previous page promised “hundreds to thousands in seconds”, “higher yield”, and said the device pulls the colony to the keeper. Those are not reliable product specifications.
Actual harvest depends on colony density, springtail species, moisture, food, temperature, surface contact and how long the riser has been left in place. In a dense culture it can make collection quicker and cleaner, but a particular number or harvest time is not guaranteed.
Colony-growth claim corrected
Pairing this tool with food does not by itself “dramatically increase” colony size. Reproduction depends on species, food quantity/quality, moisture, temperature and culture density.
No live springtails are included unless explicitly stated elsewhere in the product options.
