Description
Pak Chong Isopods (Cubaris sp.) ×10
A live starter group of colourful Cubaris-type terrestrial isopods for dedicated isopod culture or carefully planned bioactive invertebrate systems.
Bioactive role
Terrestrial isopods are detritivores and can contribute to leaf-litter fragmentation and decomposition. We no longer say that a colony will “keep your enclosure healthy”; enclosure health depends on the entire husbandry system.
Dart frog cohabitation
The previous listing said Pak Chong isopods could potentially be kept with dart frogs. Frogfather does not recommend mixed housing as a default. Young isopods may be eaten, the isopods may require microclimates that do not match the frogs, and mixed systems make it harder to assess population health and feeding.
If an experienced keeper chooses to experiment with cohabitation, it should only be after establishing a robust isopod population and confirming that the environmental requirements are compatible. A dedicated culture should be maintained separately.
Live-animal disclaimer corrected
The old page incorrectly called this product a “live amphibian”. Pak Chong isopods are live terrestrial invertebrates.
Live arrival and dispatch remain dependent on appropriate weather and transport conditions.
