Description
Established Bioactive Vivarium with Premium Lighting, Wi-Fi Misting and Live Plants
This is a fully established bioactive vivarium measuring approximately 50 x 50 x 60 cm high, built as a mature tropical display with premium lighting, live moss, established planting, bioactive substrate, microfauna and an integrated misting system.
Unlike a bare glass vivarium or freshly built enclosure, this setup has already had time to settle and develop. The substrate has been seeded with a clean-up crew, the moss has taken across the planting areas, and the tropical plants are already growing into the layout. It is ideal for someone who wants a more mature, naturalistic vivarium without starting completely from scratch.
Premium Lighting and Environmental Control
The vivarium includes premium lighting to support strong plant growth and help show off the natural colours and textures within the enclosure. Good lighting makes a huge difference in a planted vivarium, especially when growing mosses, bromeliads, creepers and other tropical plants.
It also includes a built-in Wi-Fi misting system, helping to maintain humidity and provide regular rainfall-style misting. This is especially useful for tropical vivariums where stable humidity is important for both plant growth and the overall health of the bioactive ecosystem.
A Wi-Fi hygrometer and thermometer are also included, allowing you to monitor the temperature and humidity inside the vivarium more easily. This gives you better visibility over the conditions in the enclosure and helps make day-to-day care much simpler.
Established Bioactive Substrate and Clean-Up Crew
The substrate is already bioactive and has been seeded with useful microfauna. These small invertebrates help break down organic matter, recycle waste, support the substrate, and keep the vivarium functioning as a living ecosystem.
The included microfauna are:
- Grindal worms
- Orange Panda isopods
- Tropical White isopods
- Yellow springtails
Springtails and isopods are a key part of most bioactive vivarium setups. They help deal with mould, decaying leaves and other organic material, while also supporting a more balanced environment. The presence of multiple microfauna species gives the vivarium a stronger start and helps keep the substrate active.
Live Moss and Tropical Planting
The vivarium is fully planted and moss covered, giving it a mature rainforest-style appearance. The planting has been chosen to create a mixture of texture, height, climbing growth and natural cover.
Included plants include:
- Cissus bicolor
- Begonia leita
- Ficus pumila
- Markgravia
- Bromeliads
- Various other creeping and climbing tropical plants
This planting combination gives the vivarium a natural, layered look, with creepers and climbers helping to soften the hardscape and create a more established display. The bromeliads add structure and colour, while plants such as Ficus pumila and Markgravia help create a lush, tropical feel over time.
Suitable Uses
This vivarium would suit someone looking for a mature planted display, a tropical bioactive setup, or a ready-built enclosure that can be settled and prepared for suitable rainforest species.
It may be suitable for dart frogs or other small tropical species once the new keeper has checked the conditions, allowed the vivarium to settle after transport, and confirmed that the setup is appropriate for the animals they intend to keep.
Please note that no animals are included with this listing unless specifically agreed separately. This listing is for the vivarium, equipment, plants, substrate and microfauna described above.
What Is Included?

Collection Only from Nottingham
This vivarium is collection only from Nottingham. Because it is a mature, planted and established setup, it cannot be sent by standard courier or post. Collection is the safest option to protect the glass, plants, substrate, equipment and established layout.
The vivarium should be transported carefully and kept as level as possible during collection. Some minor movement of substrate, moss or plants may happen during transport, but this is normal with any established planted vivarium.
Why Choose an Established Bioactive Vivarium?
Starting a bioactive vivarium from scratch can take time. You need to build the layout, add drainage and substrate, plant it, seed the microfauna, install lighting and misting, and then allow everything to settle. This setup has already gone through that initial establishment stage, giving you a much stronger starting point.
With live plants, moss, lighting, misting, monitoring equipment and microfauna already included, this vivarium offers excellent value compared with buying everything separately and building from scratch.
It is a strong choice for anyone wanting a premium tropical display with a mature, natural look and a functioning bioactive base already in place.
