This Clip-On Fruit Fly Feeder Lid was designed to fix that.
It clicks securely onto a standard fruit fly culture and lets you control exactly how flies are released – whether you’re dusting them with supplements, feeding normally, or leaving the culture in the tank as a slow feeder.
Three Ways to Use It
1. Clean Tap-Out Feeding
Tap flies directly into your supplement cup or feeding container without opening the culture lid and letting flies escape everywhere.
2. Easy Supplement Dusting
Tap flies straight into calcium or vitamin powder for fast, clean coating before feeding your frogs.
3. Holiday Feeder Mode
Place the culture inside the vivarium and allow flies to exit gradually through the ventilated openings – useful for gradual release, but not a substitute for arranging appropriate animal care and checking food availability when you are away.

Which Size Do I Need?
Please measure across the widest part of your existing culture-tub lid before ordering.
Although both containers are sold as 32oz fruit-fly culture tubs, their lids have slightly different diameters:
- 11.5cm version: Fits the 32oz culture tubs supplied by Advanced Animal Husbandry.
- 12cm version: Fits the wider, deli-style 32oz culture tubs commonly sold on Amazon.
The difference is only 5mm, but this is enough to prevent the wrong version clipping securely onto the tub.
Measure your existing lid straight across the centre, from one outside edge to the other. Do not choose based solely on the stated 32oz capacity, as this refers to the tub’s volume rather than its rim size.
If your existing lid measures neither 11.5cm nor 12cm, please contact us before ordering. You are welcome to send us a photograph and measurement so that we can help confirm compatibility.

Published amphibian nutrition research shows that cultured feeder insects can be low in calcium and some vitamins, and that dusting and gut-loading can improve nutrient delivery. However, feeder composition and supplement retention vary considerably. Product and culture-performance observations below are therefore separated from claims about the nutritional needs of the animal eating the feeder.
