Amazon Milk Froglets – Trachycephalus resinifictrix (3 Months+)

Captive-bred juvenile Amazon Milk Frogs that are feeding independently and ready for a suitably prepared arboreal grow-out enclosure.

Temperament and handling wording corrected

We previously described these froglets as “exceptionally bold and tame” and “docile show-stoppers”. Amphibians should not be marketed as handling animals. Individual Milk Frogs vary in behaviour, and routine handling should be kept to a minimum because amphibian skin is permeable and can be affected by residues and heat from human hands.

Housing

Provide a tall, well-ventilated enclosure with secure climbing/resting surfaces, broad leaves and appropriate water provision. Humidity should be managed together with ventilation and temperature rather than by maintaining a permanently saturated enclosure.

Temperature

Use moderate tropical temperatures and avoid prolonged overheating. A vertical enclosure should offer different microclimates rather than one uniform temperature/humidity reading.

Feeding

Offer appropriately sized live prey and a suitable supplementation programme. Monitor body condition as juveniles grow rather than relying on a fixed feeder count.

Sexing

Juveniles of this age may not be reliably sexable. Any sex estimate should be treated as provisional until adult traits and behaviour develop.
