Tiger-Legged Monkey Tree Frog – Phyllomedusa tomopterna
Limited stock available. Specialist courier delivery only.
The Tiger-Legged Monkey Tree Frog, Phyllomedusa tomopterna, is a spectacular arboreal frog with one of the most distinctive looks in the hobby. At rest it can appear mostly green, but when it moves, the bright orange legs with dark tiger-like markings make it a real showstopper.
This is an arboreal, nocturnal species that needs a mature, planted vivarium with plenty of climbing structure, broad leaves and stable environmental conditions. It should not be treated like a basic beginner frog. Good ventilation, clean water, suitable humidity and steady temperatures are all important.
Tiger-legged monkey frogs are part of the phyllomedusine group of tree frogs. They are known for their climbing behaviour and careful, deliberate movement through foliage rather than the fast hopping behaviour many people expect from frogs. The related tiger-legged monkey frogs have been kept and bred in captivity for many years, but Phyllomedusa tomopterna is generally seen less often than some of its relatives. :contentReference[oaicite:4]{index=4}
Feeding should be based around suitably sized live insects, offered with appropriate supplementation. These frogs are best suited to keepers who can provide a planted, stable arboreal enclosure and who understand the importance of not allowing conditions to swing too dry, too hot or too stagnant.
Please note: these are live amphibians and are available by specialist courier delivery only. Delivery will be arranged around animal welfare, suitable weather and courier availability.
