Creeping Begonia – Eyelash-Type Terrarium Plant
A compact creeping Begonia-type plant with textured green-to-bronze foliage, supplied for humid planted terrariums.
Identification
The original listing did not provide a verified species/cultivar. Frogfather therefore describes this stock as an eyelash-type creeping Begonia rather than inventing a species-level name.
Growing conditions
- Light: low to medium filtered/indirect light.
- Moisture: moist but freely draining root conditions.
- Humidity: generally performs well in humid terrariums, but a constant 70–100% RH target is unnecessary as a universal rule.
- Airflow: maintain ventilation and avoid stagnant wet foliage.
- Temperature: warm indoor conditions, adjusted to plant response.
Placement
It can be used around moss, cork and low planting areas where the substrate is moist but not permanently waterlogged. Spread and establishment rate vary with light, root condition, temperature and moisture.
Animal-enclosure wording corrected
We have removed “ideal for dart frogs, geckos and invertebrates” as a blanket statement. It can provide useful low cover in suitable enclosures, but animal compatibility and horticultural-residue preparation must be assessed separately.

Plant performance depends on the individual species or cultivar, root condition, light, substrate, watering, ventilation and temperature. Frogfather therefore avoids presenting one fixed relative-humidity range as a universal requirement or calling a plant automatically “safe” for amphibians simply because the species is commonly used in vivariums.
For sensitive amphibian enclosures, plants should be inspected and prepared to minimise pesticide, fertiliser and propagation-product residues before introduction.
