Lighting or exposure is excessive
Plant lights can make a vivarium look spectacular while leaving the forest floor visually exposed. Sparse planting, reflective glass, long photoperiods or sudden changes in brightness may cause frogs to stay below cover.

Should you dig the frog out?

Do not design the vivarium solely to keep frogs visible
