Yellow Springtail Starter Culture with 50g Food
Our Yellow Springtail Starter Culture is a brilliant choice for anyone building or maintaining a bioactive vivarium, froglet grow-out tub, planted terrarium or small amphibian setup. These tiny live microfauna help keep the enclosure healthier by feeding on mould, leftover food and decaying organic matter.
This culture also includes 50g of springtail food, giving you everything you need to start boosting the colony and encouraging a strong, reliable population.

Great for bioactive vivariums and froglet setups
Springtails are one of the most useful additions to a bioactive enclosure. They work alongside isopods, leaf litter, moss and live plants to help create a more natural, balanced environment. They are especially useful in damp tropical setups where mould can appear quickly.
For best results, use them alongside a proper drainage layer, leaf litter and suitable live plants. You can also pair them with our 3D Printed Springtail Collection Riser to make harvesting springtails much easier.

Care and feeding
Keep the culture slightly damp but not flooded, and feed sparingly with the included springtail food. A little goes a long way. Overfeeding can cause mould or sour the culture, so add small amounts and only top up once the previous food has mostly disappeared.
You can also support your vivarium ecosystem with other microfauna and natural materials from our range, including Springtail Supermix, bioactive substrates, leaf litter and terrarium plants.
