Dried jackfruit leaves supplied as botanical leaf litter for suitable vivariums, terrariums and invertebrate culture systems.
What they can provide

- Organic material and surfaces used by detritivorous microfauna.
- Variation in texture and decomposition rate when mixed with other leaf types.
- Surface cover that may slow local moisture loss from exposed substrate.
Claims corrected
The previous listing said jackfruit leaves are “critical to vivarium health”, stabilise humidity, maintain ecosystem balance, last longer than local leaves and are automatically amphibian-safe after professional cleaning/treatment.
Those claims were too absolute. Leaf durability varies with plant species, individual leaf, moisture, microbes and microfauna. Tropical origin does not automatically make a leaf longer-lasting or biologically superior to suitable temperate leaf litter.
Likewise, cleaning or treating botanical material does not by itself establish toxicological safety for amphibians. Inspect and prepare all botanicals before introducing them to sensitive animals.
Use
Rinse/prepare as appropriate, spread as part of a mixed leaf-litter layer and top up as decomposition progresses. Leaf litter contributes to structure and decomposition processes but does not independently regulate enclosure humidity or create a balanced ecosystem.
