A compact display/culture enclosure supplied with a selected isopod colony, suitable substrate and the options shown in the current listing.
“Complete” wording
Complete here means the main physical components are supplied together. It does not mean the enclosure becomes a closed, self-contained ecosystem or that the colony is guaranteed to thrive from day one.
Species matching
Different isopods vary substantially in moisture, ventilation, substrate depth, protein/calcium and temperature requirements. Frogfather should match the enclosure and substrate to the selected species rather than describing one “perfectly balanced” substrate as universal.
Printed-material wording corrected
The earlier page called the printed enclosure “pet-safe” and eco-friendly as an absolute product property. Finished printed-part characteristics depend on the polymer, pigments/additives, print quality, temperature and wear. We therefore avoid blanket toxicological claims.
Lighting
Optional LEDs are primarily for display and plant/moss visibility. They should not cause overheating or remove the shaded refuges required by the colony.
Ongoing care
- Maintain species-appropriate moisture gradients and ventilation.
- Provide leaf litter/decaying material and supplementary food appropriate to the species.
- Remove excess food where necessary.
- Monitor population size and juveniles rather than assuming continuous growth.
