Arrowhead Plant – Syngonium sp./cultivar
A rooted Arrowhead Plant selected for warm planted terrariums and vivariums. Exact leaf colour can vary from green to darker or burgundy-toned forms according to the stock supplied.
Identification
The previous listing used “Syngonium” without a confirmed species or cultivar. We retain the genus-level identification rather than guessing a species from appearance.
Growing conditions
- Light: medium to bright filtered/indirect light.
- Moisture: keep the root zone evenly moist but aerated.
- Humidity: adapts well to humid planted enclosures, but the old 60–90% RH figure is not a universal requirement.
- Temperature: warm indoor/tropical conditions are generally suitable; avoid treating 20–28°C as a precise optimum.
- Growth: climbing/trailing growth can be trained and pruned.
Calcium oxalate wording corrected
Syngonium contains calcium oxalate crystals in its tissues. The previous page said it was “completely safe” in bioactive setups as long as animals do not eat it. That is too absolute.
For animal enclosures, use it only where the intended inhabitants are unlikely to browse or damage the plant and where the enclosure design is otherwise appropriate. Frogfather does not describe a calcium-oxalate-containing plant as universally safe for every reptile, amphibian or invertebrate species.
Residue preparation
Prepare nursery stock to minimise pesticide and fertiliser residues before introduction to sensitive amphibian systems.

Plant performance depends on the individual species or cultivar, root condition, light, substrate, watering, ventilation and temperature. Frogfather therefore avoids presenting one fixed relative-humidity range as a universal requirement or calling a plant automatically “safe” for amphibians simply because the species is commonly used in vivariums.
For sensitive amphibian enclosures, plants should be inspected and prepared to minimise pesticide, fertiliser and propagation-product residues before introduction.
