Pea Aphid Culture – 1000ml Assorted
A live 1000ml culture of pea aphids supplied as supplementary soft-bodied feeder insects for appropriately sized insectivores.
Potential uses
- Prey variety for suitable amphibians, reptiles and predatory invertebrates.
- A different movement pattern and feeding opportunity from fruit flies.
- Useful where the intended animal readily takes small soft-bodied prey.
Nutrition wording corrected
The previous listing described pea aphids as “easy to digest”, “nutritionally suitable for delicate feeders” and a particularly effective prey item. Without comparative species-specific digestion data or a nutrient analysis of the supplied culture, those claims are too strong.
Pea aphids should be used as one component of a varied and appropriately supplemented feeding programme, not as a complete or nutritionally proven superior feeder.
Culture performance
A 1000ml container provides useful culture volume, but we do not guarantee a fixed density, “strong initial supply”, continued production or culture lifespan. Output varies with host plant, culture age, temperature and starting population.
Biosecurity
Keep cultures securely contained and do not release aphids outdoors or onto crop/garden plants. Dispose of unwanted cultures responsibly.
