Frogfather Clay Bath Holder – Reusable 10 cm Dish for Optional Clay Husbandry
A reusable 3D-printed holder designed to contain a shallow preparation of suitable natural clay without spreading it through the vivarium.

What we do not claim
Earlier versions of this listing said clay baths could “draw out impurities”, balance skin pH, remove toxins and provide skin-care benefits. We have removed those claims because we do not have suitable evidence demonstrating those effects in dart frogs.
Amphibian skin is highly permeable and plays an important role in water and electrolyte exchange, which is precisely why topical husbandry products should be used cautiously. A clay bath is not a treatment for dehydration, retained shed, infection, poisoning, nutritional deficiency or other disease.
How to use
If you choose to offer clay, mix a small quantity of a known, uncontaminated clay product with amphibian-safe water and place a shallow amount in the holder. Allow voluntary access. Do not force a frog to remain in it. Remove the preparation if contaminated and clean the holder between uses.
At Frogfather we have used clay dishes as an occasional optional husbandry feature. That is practical experience, not evidence that captive dart frogs require clay baths.
Important
Do not add preservatives, medications or other chemicals unless specifically advised by an appropriately qualified veterinary surgeon for the animal concerned.

Amphibian skin is physiologically important and permeable to water, electrolytes and many dissolved compounds. That does not establish a therapeutic benefit from bentonite or other clay baths. We therefore distinguish Frogfather’s optional use of clay from evidence-based medical or nutritional treatment.
