Egg-Shaped Fungus Gnat Trap for Vivariums & Terrariums
A reusable enclosed trap intended to help capture adult fungus gnats around humid plant displays, terrariums and vivariums. No live animals or plants are included.
Animal-access correction
Earlier wording called the trap “non-toxic”, “safe for amphibians, reptiles and inverts” and said its opening specifically avoids beneficial microfauna. Those statements are too absolute without validated testing of the complete trap and attractant.
Where vertebrates or valuable invertebrates are present, place the trap outside the animals’ accessible area or behind a secure barrier so inhabitants cannot enter the trap or contact its contents. Do not assume that a small opening excludes every juvenile or microfauna species.
Effectiveness
The trap can capture adult gnats that enter it, but it does not remove eggs and larvae developing in substrate. Useful life depends on attractant, insect pressure, humidity and contamination, so the previous “effective for up to 45 days” statement is not guaranteed.
Fungus-gnat management
Persistent gnat problems should also prompt a review of saturated substrate, decaying feed, plant material and other larval resources. In animal enclosures, pest-control materials should be selected conservatively and kept inaccessible to the inhabitants.
