The Frogfather Forever Bromeliad is a reusable, 3D-printed alternative to a live bromeliad. It has been designed for humid dart frog vivariums, where natural bromeliads can sometimes struggle, deteriorate or become difficult to inspect.
Its leaf-style cups hold small pockets of water, providing suitable tadpole deposition opportunities for dart frogs that naturally use bromeliads and other phytotelmata. Because the entire bromeliad can be removed, it is also easier to inspect, rinse and reposition when required.
Why choose a 3D-printed bromeliad?
Live bromeliads can look spectacular, but they do not always thrive indefinitely in enclosed vivarium conditions. Poor airflow, constantly wet crowns, unsuitable mounting and limited root development can eventually cause a plant to deteriorate.
The Forever Bromeliad provides a permanent alternative. It retains the useful water-holding structure of a bromeliad while remaining removable, washable and unaffected by ordinary vivarium humidity.

Designed around natural dart frog behaviour
Many dart frogs lay their eggs on a leaf or another sheltered surface. Once the tadpoles hatch, a parent may transport them to a small body of water, including the water held between bromeliad leaves.
The Forever Bromeliad is intended to recreate these useful water pockets. It should therefore be described primarily as a tadpole deposition site rather than as somewhere frogs must lay their eggs.
Which frogs may use it?
This product is particularly relevant to dart frogs that use small, elevated water pools as part of their breeding behaviour, including many:
- Ranitomeya species
- Oophaga species
- Other small dart frogs that investigate bromeliad-style pools
Individual frogs may use breeding features differently, and the presence of a deposition site does not guarantee breeding. It can nevertheless provide useful choice, enrichment and additional microhabitat within a suitably designed enclosure.
Positioning the Forever Bromeliad
Position the bromeliad securely among cork, branches or the vivarium background. Choose a location that the frogs can reach easily and that allows you to remove the bromeliad when inspection or cleaning is required.
If it is being offered as a tadpole deposition site, make sure the chosen cups retain clean water. Avoid placing it where substrate, loose moss or excessive debris will continually wash into them.
Mounting hardware is not included. Any magnet, fixing or adhesive used inside the enclosure must be suitable for its intended environment and installed securely.
Cleaning and care
- Rinse thoroughly before placing it in the vivarium.
- Check the water-holding cups as part of normal enclosure maintenance.
- Remove and rinse it when debris begins to accumulate.
- Do not use household cleaning sprays, scented disinfectants or harsh chemicals.
- Inspect the product periodically and discontinue use if it becomes damaged.
