Frogfather SpawnStation™
The Frogfather SpawnStation™ is a modular breeding and tadpole-management system designed to make providing, inspecting and changing breeding sites inside a dart frog vivarium considerably easier.
Rather than permanently fixing individual egg cups, dishes or tadpole sites around the vivarium, the SpawnStation™ uses a universal backplate with interchangeable removable modules.
The backplate stays attached to the vivarium. Your chosen breeding module simply hooks onto it.
Need to inspect eggs? Lift the module off.
Want to change the type of breeding site being offered? Swap the module.
Need to remove a tadpole or clean a deposition site? Take the whole module to your workbench and return it afterwards.

Different dart frog species — and sometimes different individual frogs — have very different preferences when choosing where to deposit eggs or tadpoles.
The SpawnStation™ allows you to offer different types of breeding site while retaining the same mounting system.
Available modules include options designed for:
- Egg deposition
- Removable breeding dishes and cups
- Tadpole deposition and rearing
- Obligate-feeding species
Because the modules are interchangeable, the system can be adapted as your frogs, breeding programme or species change.
Easy inspection without disturbing the vivarium
One of the biggest advantages of the SpawnStation™ is that the breeding site itself can be removed.
Instead of reaching into a heavily planted vivarium to inspect eggs or trying to access a breeding site hidden amongst plants and hardscape, simply lift the module from the backplate.
You can inspect eggs or tadpoles, photograph development, clean the module or carry out whatever husbandry is required before replacing it.
Designed for real breeding vivariums
The SpawnStation™ was developed at Frogfather HQ for use with our own frogs and breeding setups.
The system has been designed around a simple principle: breeding equipment should make husbandry easier without unnecessarily disturbing the animals or dismantling the vivarium every time something needs checking.
Modular by design
The universal mounting system also means the SpawnStation™ isn’t limited to the modules available today.
Future compatible SpawnStation™ modules can use the same mounting system, allowing the breeding station to develop alongside your collection.
How does the SpawnStation™ work?
- Position and secure the SpawnStation™ backplate inside the vivarium.
- Select the appropriate breeding module for your frogs.
- Hook the module onto the backplate.
- Allow your frogs to discover and use the site naturally.
- When required, lift the module from the backplate to inspect eggs or tadpoles.
- Replace the module or swap it for another compatible SpawnStation™ module.
Which SpawnStation™ module should I choose?
The best breeding site depends upon the species you keep and the behaviour you are trying to encourage.
